Mani Monday: Luck of the Irish…

Since St. Patrick’s day fell on a Saturday this year- there was even more reason to celebrate.  Everyone and their mother, literally, came to the city of Chicago to watch the Chicago river turn neon green and get their drink on.  In order to prepare, a few of the girls from work came over on Thursday for sushi, beer, nail painting, and college basketball.  It was quite the sight to see- four girls just as worried about how their brackets were doing as they were to what Irish theme they were going to paint their nails.  The problem was…we had too many options we couldn’t decide what to do!  It’s my fault.  Instead of just green- I had many shades of green, orange, glitter, stamps, etc that you can see in the photos below.  Decisions were finally made after a bit of ‘testing’ of the endless combinations and the end result on each girl ended up being just as unique and fabulous as they are!  I can’t wait for the next party!Colors used were: Green-Essie Going Incognito and Navigate her, OPI Jade is the new black.  Orange- Essie Orange it’s Obvious, and Tart Deco.  Sparkles-Sephora by OPI Traffic Stopper Copper and Flurry Up.  Tools used: Sephora Dotting Tool and Konad Plate M60.

Mani Monday: Seeing Spots

That must have been what Jay Cutler from the Bears said after getting sacked by the Packers so many times yesterday huh?  Well in honor of that wonderful win by the Packers, today’s Mani Monday consists of a green manicure with a gold spotted accent nail.  For this mani I used Essie Protein Base Coat to start.  Then added 2 coats of Essie Going Incognito followed by a coat of Essie Good to Go Fast-Dry Top Coat.  Once they were dry I used my Marbling and Dotting Nail Tool from Sephora and dipped the larger side in Sinful This Is It and dotted my ring finger nail.  Once the gold was dry, I used the smaller side of the dotting tool and dipped it in Essie Going Incognito and dotted the centers of the larger gold dots.  I topped off the mani with another coat of Essie Good to Go Fast-Dry Top Coat.

Sporty Sunday: True Colors

Once in a while the ladies want to be sports fans and support our team without covering ourselves with our teams logo, especially considering the lack of options for attractive apparel for women.  Over the years I’ve accumulated a number of pieces in my team’s colors (many of them  cheaper and more fun than a team t-shirt or jersey) that could be worn on game day as well as any other day of the week.  Since it is football season, I’ll show you some things to add to your shopping list to help you back the Pack-or whatever team you support, but I’ll be showing you the examples in green and gold.  We start the outfit with a simple grey shirt and then add the team colors to complete the look and you can add as little or as much color as you’d like!  Then top it off with a fabulous manicure and you are good to go!
